JLA Office
A bold color palette adds an element of intrigue.
We revamped our office. One part art project, one part necessity, this space packs a punch and speaks to the building’s original warehouse days. The show-stopper: the powder room. A mysterious shou sugi ban wood opens to reveal an intense red tiled room. Nestled under the stairs, the raw underside of the existing wood staircase ascends to frame a stainless-steel-grated sink topped by an interior-backlit clerestory. Opposite, a custom toilet paper holder composed of 42 steel pipe ends creates a dynamic, ever-changing display out of the most mundane material.
The powder room is an extension of our ethos — a hands-on workshop. Upstairs, is a lounge area composed of JLA cardboard-made furniture. The kitchen, is a study in materials. The full bath exudes a factory vibe. The dining area highlights mid-century modern furnishings in an industrial setting.
