Cass Lee Residence
Under construction. Completing in 2025.
Rising from a six-acre burnt parcel in Ukiah, this multi-building compound replaces a 1940’s ranch-style house that succumbed to the 2018 Mendocino Complex fire.
We designed this residence as a year-round retreat for family and friends. We oriented the great room, with large open kitchen, to maximize the views of the vineyard and ridge beyond. Sliding doors open to a covered patio which offers unobstructed access to the outdoors. On each side of the great room are identical en suites, angled to optimize the view, with the leftover voids entry points for the reading room and breakfast nook.
We stacked a third bedroom suite on top of the north suite, creating a siloed-tower counterpoint to this otherwise barn-like building. Opposite the covered patio, a pool and adjacent pool house offer respite in the hot summers.
To round out the compound, an ADU and separate drying barn, will be completed in 2025.
