Remodel Opens Up the Heart of the Home

Removing the wall between a closed off kitchen and seldom used dining room allowed this new craftsman-inspired kitchen to become the centerpiece and heart of this house. Framed by columns and bookcases, the kitchen was aligned with the existing family room, giving a visual separation but allowing an open floor plan to work with a more traditional vocabulary.  Materials such as the gray granite countertops, fir trim, and painted cabinets make a rich, understated palette that is refreshingly modern.  Thoughtful details such as the dog drinking station under the kitchen island reflect the care and attention lavished on this kitchen and bath remodel.  The master bedroom was completely reorganized to create a much needed walk-in closet, and remodeled bathroom.
