Maritime East

A larger, sister restaurant to the well-established Café Maritime in San Francisco, this East Bay restaurant is a remodel of an existing “French-style” brasserie. Incorporating imagery of the seashore, the restaurant is divided into three sections: A traditional bar area which features murals of abstracted water themes; fish-scale pressed-tin paneling, and a beach-chair-cum-divider of plastic tubing, a dining area with a bubble-themed steel sculpture and wall of maritime curiosities, and a narrower, sand room which incorporates a 40’ long wall of colored sand poured into a double-wall cavity plastic paneling. The blue sand is hypnotically shimmering; the varying striations evoke the dappling light off the sea.  A small private dining room creates an intimate “underwater” experience for dining.
