Updating this 4,000 square foot house located in the Clarendon Heights district of San Francisco involved removing extraneous elements and details, so that the phenomenal views could be enjoyed without distraction. Large doric columns and a clumsy guard rail were removed from the living room to yield a more open plan. An elegant stainless steel railing and sophisticated color scheme gives a crisp architectural feel to the house. A demising wall was removed between the dining room and kitchen to create an exhibition style kitchen. Other walls were removed in the rear to connect the family room with the kitchen; a new fireplace and bookshelves create an intimate room for movie watching.
Other updates included remodeling all of the bathrooms, and reorganizing the bedroom floor to create a private home office.
